Oliver’s Mount is the only real road circuit left in England.

The circuit was opened in 1946 with the first Gold Cup meeting in 1950. Word soon spread throughout Europe, that a new and challenging "Mini TT Course" had opened. The unique nature of the circuit, with it’s steep climbs and descents and many ‘walking pace’ hairpins soon had manufacturers producing special gearboxes and clutches to cope with the gruelling demands of this picturesque circuit.

The circuit celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 96 with a 70,000 crowd – 2001 saw the 50th Anniversary of the International Gold Cup, unfortunately, the weather washed the meeting out so the Auto 66 Club are hoping for better things.

The first international meeting at Oliver’s Mount attracted most of the British based GP regulars, plus riders from France, Holland, Germany and Belgium, and the meeting soon became one of Britain’s most popular motorcycling events, we are hoping that the IHRO race will replicate this entry.

IHRO is delighted to be involved with the Auto66 club at this Barry Sheene International Classic Bike Festival which is a solely historic meeting for this year.
