Paton BIC 500 8v RU

For 2009 there will be a competition run at all the IHRO races for the best owner rider of 2009.

All riders who genuinely own and race their own racing machine in any capacity class in the IHRO events will be eligible to win a weekend as a ‘Works’ rider on a 500 BIC Paton at one event in 2010, probably Schleiz.

This fantastic opportunity is possible due to the generosity of the Moto Paton factory people who approached me to see how they could help to benefit IHRO and its riders, after much discussion at the Milan Show we came up with this idea to help benefit the ordinary rider who supports IHRO during the course of the year.

The details are yet to be finalised but in essence there will be a points system instituted which will record the positions of all owner riders in all classes over the year, the person who scores the most points, regardless of capacity class will be judged to be the winner. People who have two machines in two capacity classes will not be able to add the points from each class together, it will be scored on the old style Grand Prix points system, 25, 20, 16, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4. 3, 2, 1, each race at each event will give qualifying points.

The winner of the contest will have a Paton BIC 500 8v RU 1968 at their disposal for a 2010 racing-weekend for free. The winner would however be responsible for the cost of the entry for the event, fuel, spare tyres and would have to pay for the aftermath of a crash. Of course possible mechanical failures will be at Patons expense. It is possible that by the time came for the ride to take place, that the cost of fuel, tyres and entry could be paid for by another sponsor.

The definition of ‘owner rider’ is fairly straightforward. The machine being raced must genuinely be owned by the rider or a family member, this will permit husband – wife and father – son situations. The fact that a rider may have other expenses paid for by sponsors will not disqualify them from this competition.

In the event of any dispute, the interpretation of this competition will be the responsibility of the IHRO organisation whose ruling is final and not subject to appeal.
