CRMC - Donington Park, England - 28-29 June 2008
Posted in events |The original Donington track was opened in 1931, and initially used for motorcycle races.
The circuit was closed in 1939 due to World War 2, when it became a military vehicle depot. In the early 1970s the circuit was bought by Tom Wheatcroft, who funded the rebuilding of the track, which was re-opened May 27, 1977.
Now the venue for the Britsh round of the MotoGP championship and it is the 4,023 kms Grand prix circuit which we will be using.
Set in beautiful countryside near the village of Castle Donington in the English Midlands, the circuit is set in a natural amphitheatre affording great views from all around. Donington Park is a track of two halves. Its fluid fast and flowing layout is broken by a slow second half with tight corners which was added to bring the circuit up to the minimum Grand Prix length. The 2.5 mile track is made up of four left-hand bends, seven right-handers, two hairpins and a set of S-curves.
IHRO is delighted to return to this historic ciruit after a 12 year break.
